Mary & GregJanuary 2020
My husband and I spent three beautiful days at the Free Spirit Pods In January 2020!
We could have spent longer! The location is perfect with views from our spacious balcony overlooking the bush and then out to Quarantine Bay! It was so quiet and peaceful and a wonderful way to connect with nature and the wallabies that visited us every afternoon to graze from their feeding stations. The pods are so beautifully presented and decorated in a very quirky style! We loved the knitted boy and girl bears placed on the ever so comfortable bed!Breakfast is included along with welcome ciders biscuits and chocolates!A basic pantry is supplied which means that you don’t have to go out and buy all the extras! We did day trips each day to the winery cheese oyster shops and arrived back each afternoon where we cooked a bbq! It was so easy and such a welcoming place thanks to our wonderful hosts Chris and Gary!We would highly recommend the Pods to friends and anyone who wants a special experience! We hope to go back soon!”Situated in a superb and idyllic location on Bruny Island, the Flying Duck Pod was a luxury eco retreat with everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay. Hosts Chris and Garry made us feel especially welcome, gave us our privacy but were on hand if needed. The Pods are brilliantly appointed with so many lovely touches, it felt like a home away from home. Loved the view of the bay, the peace of the bush and the endearing wildlife. By far the most outstanding accommodation we have had the privilege of staying.
Victor & Leslee, TasmaniaJanuary 2020”Relaxation
GavenJanuary 2020
3 nights in the Blue Wren pod was extremely relaxing after full days seeing the sights of beautiful Bruny Island. The deck was wonderful to watch the wildlife and setting sun and the fire was wonderful when the cold chased us inside. Garry and Chris were accommodating hosts and the pod was fitted out with every convenience and more like a thermos and picnic basket. Would love to visit again.”Garry and Chris have created such beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped luxury Pods. So much thought has gone into making you feel very welcome. A very relaxing, tranquil place to return to each day after sight seeing, sitting on the balcony with gorgeous views while devouring local wines, beers, oysters, cheese & bread. Highly recommend!

LouiseJanuary 2020”We spent 4 days on Bruny Island and had a wonderful time. The Free Spirit Pods were a great place to stay. Fantastic hosts, brilliant accommodation including all the unexpected little extras Chris and Garry included. Over looking the water and watching the birds and animals made for a relaxing stay. Although it was a bit windy for our stay it did not stop us exploring the island and taking in the sites. We would highly recommend the Free Spirit Pods as a place to stay.

Kelsi & TimNovember 2019”Home away from home in an amazing location. Loved the attention to detail, and the lolly jars
Adam & FrancescaNovember 2019”I'm sitting on the deck, listening to the birds morning song and the only just present rustle of the trees in the breeze, watching yachts bobble about in the bay below and thinking of nothing in particular, just being here. Our 3 day weekend here has been deeply relaxing and forever memorable. Our hosts have been friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. The 2 pods on the property are very well appointed and although you need to bring your own food you don't need to bring your entire pantry as the kitchen was stocked with fresh coffee, milk, butter, oil and even marshmallow for the fire pit. This is the ultimate in romantic getaways and we have loved every minute!
LibbySeptember 2019”We spent a fantastic three nights at Free Spirit Pods- staying in the cozy 'Blue Wren' Pod. The view from the room and balcony is spectacular overlooking a secluded bay. Being nature enthusiast, the best thing about our stay was the amazing wildlife which is abundant on the property- Wallabies, Paddymelons and even rare Potoroos feed around the cabins in the evening affording great views from the comfort of the pod. Sea-eagles and Eastern Quolls are resident and birdlife is prolific. We highly recommend Free Spirit Pods for anyone coming to Bruny Island, especially as a base for nature lovers to explore the island.
Dan & ElsAugust 2019”We stayed in the Flying Duck Pod. Really loved the sea views, wildlife and beautiful interiors. There is so much to do and see in this general area. You can suit yourself and kick back with a book and do nothing. Must do: toast the evening by the fire pit and watch the Milky Way stroll by as the native animals come and go. Garry and Chris were the best hosts and they made our stay just brilliant. We shall return!
John & JoAugust 2019”One of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed! It ticked all the boxes for me... peaceful, private, completely immersed in nature, views across the bay, communal fire pit (with marshmallows!), kayaks, trails, INCREDIBLE hosts, and the pods themselves were just gorgeous! I will always support those who embrace sustainability and eco-friendly tourism. Thank you Garry and Chris, we will absolutely be back!!!
LucyAugust 2019”New and secret spot hidden away with all the luxuries you need. They are eco friendly, sustainable and fully integrated right near the state reserve. The view when you wake up is breathtaking!

We felt extremely relaxed in our pod which is fitted out brilliantly, warm, cosy it is situated in a beautiful natural area overlooking the bay. All the amenities are first class and we especially enjoyed the short walks and visits from the wallabies at night. It is a credit to the owners, and we will definitely return.

So beautiful and serene, full of homely and luxurious comforts (from the most thoughtful hosts), we loved the fireplace, the kayak, the best bed ever! Do yourself a favour, think no further, book this place and you will never want to leave! Thank you so much Chris and Garry - we are planning our next return! 🙂

Not to mention the spacious, modern, vibrant style of the pods, once-in-a-lifetime view, natural surroundings (walking by the beach and through the bush), eco-friendly accommodation and amazing hosts. Beautiful wildlife on the property too. Thanks for surpassing our expectations!

The pods are very well appointed and modern with all you need...plus a few surprise treats! Chris and Gerry were great hosts and prompt with communication. Highly recommend a visit to Free Spirit Pods.
BronwynJuly 2019”I stayed with my husband in the Blue Wren pod shortly after it opened and we fell in love with the place! Top notch amenities, and so warm and cosy we didn't want to leave. The beds were SO comfy! The view of Quarantine Bay was spectacular, and our evenings were spent enjoying visits from the friendly local wildlife and enjoying the local produce out on our private deck or around the fire pit. The owners were wonderfully warm and friendly and their knowledge of local surrounds was really helpful in choosing how to spend our time there. A couple of times we stayed on site opting to go kayaking, fishing and exploring the immediate area. Plenty to do there - as much (or as little!) as you wish. Will definitely be back next time with the kids and stay longer.
903ellewJune 2019”Myself and my partner stayed four nights in the flying duck pod a couple of months back and I have never felt more relaxed/at home. Not only are the hosts extremely accommodating but the views and encounters with the local animals are just breathtaking. Also the pod had everything we could ever need including a gorgeous kitchen, fireplace and bathroom! The best part was all the personal touches of marshmallows for the fire or wallaby food to experience the magic yourself! Definitely recommend!

The pellet fire heater ensured a warm and cosy stay and the underfloor heating was a touch of luxury.
