Our waterfront Free Spirit Pods, with beautiful views of Quarantine Bay, are perfect for your next romantic getaway. Set on eight acres to enjoy and explore. Free Spirit has direct waterfront access.

We have two luxury self contained waterfront pods which are superbly handcrafted from sustainable Tasmanian timbers.

Both our open-plan studio-pods, Flying Duck and Blue Wren, feature double glazed floor to ceiling bi-fold doors leading onto your spacious private deck.  Each pod can accommodate up to two person.

Take a short walk to Quarantine Bay or Chalky Point, scattered with aboriginal middens, or just laze in the comfy outdoor lounge on the balcony.

We have a 2-seater kayak available for guests with life jackets, paddles etc. Fishing rods are available too. BYO bait please.

Being remote, we suggest that you stock up with a wide range of delicious local food that you can cook in your kitchenette, or barbeque on the verandah.

You could be lucky and spot a wide range of native animals which gather every evening.

Free Spirit Pods are just a short drive from Get Shucked Oyster Bar and the Bruny Island Cheesery, both award-winning luncheon attractions – open 7 days – North Bruny. And visit The Bruny Island Hotel – open lunch/dinner 7 days – South Bruny.

We want all our guests to have the least amount of worries or concerns prior to arriving at Free Spirit on Bruny Island. We will be in touch prior to your arrival with pre-arrival information including directions. Each Pod will have extensive information on Bruny Island – listing all attractions, eating facilities and everything you need to know about this amazing place. Go out explore and enjoy!

Food & Supplies

Although there are a number of options for eating out on Bruny Island, your beautifully appointed pod features quality Smeg appliances, microwave, refrigerator plus a Delonghi gas cooktop and outdoor BBQ’s. Well appointed decks to use and enjoy. Meaning you never need to venture away from Quarantine Bay.

Here at Free Spirit you’ll find peace and tranquility, however this also means supplies on the Island are limited and we recommend stocking up prior to boarding the Sealink Bruny Island Ferry.

We recommend you consider stocking up for:

  • Food items for breakfast, lunch and Dinner
  • Your favourite snacks
  • Your choice of beverages
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Electronic items (charges, cables, etc.)
  • Any other supplies you consider necessary to allow you to spend as much time as possible at Free Spirit Pods.

  • Coles and Woolworths at Kingston (13 kms from Hobart)
  • IGA at Snug (24 kms from Hobart)

Smaller food markets:

  • Meredith General Store, Margate (21 kms from Hobart)
  • Oyster Cove General Store (32 kms from Hobart)
  •  Snug Butchery (24 kms from Hobart)

Within Bruny Island:

  • Both the Allonah and Adventure Bay General Stores are located on South Bruny Island. Each is approx. a 35 minute drive from Free Spirit, open daily and suitable for basic supplies.

Ferry Timetable

The SEALINK ferry leaves from Kettering; about 30 minutes drive south of Hobart. From September to the end of May, services are every half hour from 6.30am to 7.00pm. During the cooler months, this service is hourly. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes prior to your anticipated departure, especially during the busier times.

Directions

  • Easiest way to find us is to search for Free Spirit Pods in “Google Maps” or “Apple Maps” on your mobile device and follow the directions.
  • Once you leave the Bruny Island Ferry, continue along the main road for 8.4kms.
  • Turn left towards Killora on the C625, (gravel road), for a further 4.6kms.
  • Just past the CWA Hall, turn left to continue on the C625 for another 3.3kms.
  • Turn left into Davis Rd. for 0.5kms, through the ‘private road’ sign, and turn left to follow the graded road.
  • 500m further to the Free Spirit Pods entrance and driveway on your right…..Welcome.
